Welcome to Gregory’s Wine Journal!

Cheers everyone!

Welcome to Gregory's Wine Journal! A traveling-and-tasting website dedicated to wine and its people.

The site follows my perennial trips to wineries in Greece and abroad and reports my wine discoveries and meetings with people who craft, edify and dream of wine... Wine tourism is a way of traveling that allows me to 'dig' and get deeper into local communities, people and their philosophies. This magical wine trip is where my journal is dedicated to.

Let me note I am not a professional journalist nor I care to be one. No-one pays me for what I write; I write for myself (and you hopefully!). Some of my posts are republished in ‘Wine Trails’ magazine (run by national circulation ‘Agrenta’ newspaper) but these are also given to them free of charge. Gregory's Wine Journal is also an ad-free place.

In my articles I provide tasting notes of the wines I taste but do not score them for two reasons: firstly because I believe the products of art -including wine- are wronged by sterile rating. Wine is a product with many abstract aspects, not only technical features, which cannot easily be rated. The numbers are often not suitable to convey the emotional load of wine. Moreover, to be a fair judge, one should always taste under the same conditions (location, glasses, lighting, mood etc.) and this is not the case in my trips.

Our Wine World is just beautiful! Let's travel together, prepare your "baggage"! Welcome to Gregory's Wine Journal!
