These are my favorite Greek wine portals! I share them with you, along with my comments on them or/and their creators!

OINOHOOS (by Kathimerini)

http://www.oinoxoos.net

‘Kathimerini’ is a newspaper with gusto, and ‘Oinohoos’ magazine by Kathimerini (meaning ‘Sommelier’ in Greek) features a graceful presentation and excellent content on Greek and international wines, beer and spirits. ‘Oinohoos’ is actually kissing cousins with ‘Gastronomos’ magazine focusing on cooking -so one mag complements the other. Here is the online version of ‘Oinohoos’.

Not to say much, I only need to mention the editorial team; they are all very experienced wine professionals and connoisseurs in our country: Tassoula Eptakili, Simos Georgopoulos, Ted Lelekas, Ioanna Andriopoulou, Maria Dimou, Alexandra Mandrakou, Stelios Boutaris, Aggelos Rentoulas, Nikoleta Makrionitou, Marita Katsoprini, Karita Mitrogogou

WINE SYRVEYOR

http://winesurveyor.weebly.com/

George Makris' website is a benchmark! I constantly visit it almost always before traveling  wherever in Greece -be it a wine trip or not!- to find all information I need. A very comprehensive site, with links to almost everything! We are all fortunate to have this website that fills a huge gap in the Greek wine world, even it being a private initative, funded by George Makris.

George Makris -a.k.a. wine surveyor- havs visited over 530 wineries and acquired complete data on all producers of bottled wine for all Greek and international varieties, as well as for 4.300 Greek wines. He is a topographical engineer specializing in capturing monuments. His 'journey', however, started some years ago in the wine roads of Dionysus in Northern Greece that was to be the most fascinating in his life. As he says: "History and culture, customs, place and time, labor and science, words and images. From the vineyard to the open bottle on the table. Everything, in the wine world, feels like magic."

ANDRO

http://www.andro.gr/geusi/krasi/

A portal revolving around ‘men topics’ (politics, sports, wine, spirits, business, style, etc.) -hence the name 'Andro'- with a very freestyle, unpretentious writing style. Here we focus on taste (wines, spirits, secrets, recipes) and especially wine, where we read articles by well-known wine professionals Konstantinos Lazarakis MW and Simos Georgopoulos (the latest also writes about his other obsessions, coffee and cycling).

It is perfect, so subscribe to their Newsletter!

NEW WINES OF GREECE

http://www.newwinesofgreece.com

This is the international campaign for Greek wine, by the National Inter-professional Organization of Vine and Wine (EDOAO). A beautiful and solid effort that aims to bring consumers and professionals in Greece and abroad closer to the Greek wine varieties and appellations of origin.

This website features plenty of useful material, maps and videos with statements and opinions on Greek Wine by Greek winemakers, grape-growers and other important professionals.
